We're delighted to announce that one of our previous painters and decorators, Tiffany, has recently rejoined us after a period working elsewhere in the industry. We're really looking forward to continuing to support Tiffany in her skills development, and seeing her progress in the next stage of her career.
Different Strokes has recently completed painting and decorating projects for care homes in Carlisle, Keswick and Kendal.
As always, our aim was to be as flexible as possible in meeting our client's needs - on this occasion, working through the night to ensure we weren't disrupting the day-to-day running of the homes.
Scrubbable paints were used for maximum durability, and our decorators got on really well with the residents and staff, making our time on site a pleasure for everyone involved.
We are proud to be sponsoring the Kendal Winter League running series for the fourth year in 2018.
We have previously helped many projects within the local community, as it is our ongoing belief that this is incredibly important, and we are pleased to once again be assisting local sport.
Up to 2000 runners will take part in the 12-race series, with the age of participants ranging from eight years old to 70+. The events are a great introduction for beginners and to promote sport to children, with races taking place over a variety of terrain in areas including Kendal, Elterwater, Settle, Sedbergh and Ulverston.
For all the event details and to register, visit the Helm Hill website at: http://www.helmhill.co.uk/index.php/races/80-races/114-kendal-winter-league
Robert completed his Bob Graham Challenge by running a distance of 67 miles over 42 summits in a time of 20 hours 47 minutes.
Robert would like to thank everyone that contributed, and helped sponsor him which will now help local people with special needs have exciting days out fishing where they have a life changing experience.
Different Strokes have donated £250 to local football team, Burneside Reserves. Owner Robert Crawford was brought up in Burneside, he went to school there and has strong ties to the club and wanted to give something back. We supplied first aid kits and training material which will hopefully help Burneside Reserves hold on to their top of the league position and bring home the trophy. Come on Burneside!
Different Strokes were badly affected by the recent floods in Cumbria and Lancashire. Our head office was totally flooded out but we managed to re-open for business on Monday 7th December. We would like to offer our sympathy to any victims of these devastating floods and if we can be of any assistance, please get in touch.
Students from Kendal College painted a mural on the wall of local award winning architect O'Neil Associates, using paint donated by Different Strokes. 50 litres of oil based paint was given to the College as part of our ongoing community support programme.
Huge congratulations to Rose, our third year apprentice for winning gold in the 2015 Skill Build Awards, a county wide competition through Furness College. Well done Rose!
